Mann Defends Israel's Security

May 16, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance H.R. 8369, the Israel Security Assistance Support Act. Last week, President Biden announced that his administration would withhold a shipment of weapons to Israel if Israel invaded Rafah. The Israel Security Assistance Support Act prevents the Biden Administration and any future administration from withholding, halting, reversing, or canceling weapon transfers to Israel that already have Congressional approval. The bill passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 224-187. Rep. Mann released the following statement after the vote.

“In no world would America tolerate barbaric terrorism from any neighboring country,” said Rep. Mann. “Israel should not be forced to tolerate it either. It is frustrating that the Biden Administration seems to be more dedicated to spewing a nuanced foreign policy that pleases progressive activists than standing with our strongest ally in the Middle East. We cannot afford to play political games with Israel’s security especially while innocent Israelis are still being held hostage by Hamas. The United States stands with Israel.”

In April 2024, Rep. Mann supported the Israeli Supplemental Security Appropriations Act. Following Iran’s unprecedented direct attack on Israel, Rep. Mann criticized the Biden Administration’s appeasement of the Iranian regime. In December 2023, he also voted to freeze the $6 billion in Iranian assets that the Biden Administration reversed in September of that year.

In the aftermath of the October 7 attacks, Rep. Mann voted yes on legislation stating that America stands with Israel as it defends itself in the war launched by Hamas and supported the stand-alone Israeli Security Supplemental Appropriations Act to bolster Israel’s defensive capabilities. Rep. Mann has consistently voted to urge Hamas to immediately release hostages taken during the October 7 attacks, and to reaffirm the state of Israel’s right to exist.

As laid out in his commitment to the Big First, Rep. Mann is committed to ensuring Kansans a nation that is safe. Rep. Mann is a member of the Abraham Accords Caucus, the Israel Allies Caucus, and the Transatlantic Friends of Israel Caucus.
