Rep. Mann Stands with Israel, Votes to Strengthen U.S. National Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted yes on H.R. 8034, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024. The bill passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 366-58. In the aftermath of the October 7 attacks, America stood with Israel as Hamas killed innocent civilians and families resulting in the deadliest day for the Jewish people since World War II. Last weekend, Iran launched hundreds of drones, ballistic, and cruise missiles into Israel as it attacked America’s sole-democratic partner in the Middle East. After the vote, Rep. Mann released the following statement.
“The U.S. always has and always will stand with our strongest ally and sole-democratic partner in the Middle East, Israel,” said Rep. Mann. “Unfortunately, President Biden’s appeasement in dealing with the terrorist regime in Tehran has backfired against Israel, putting the entire region at risk and making it clear —President Biden’s policies in the Middle East are failing. Congress cannot afford to sit idly by while Iran and its terrorist proxies attack Israel. Kansans in the Big First proudly stand with Israel and know that its victory against terrorism is in the best interest of both America’s and Israel’s national security.”
The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act:
- Supports Israel in its effort to defend itself against Iran and its terrorist proxies
- Replenishes the Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems
- Backs the Iron Beam defense system to counter short-range rockets and mortar threats
- Funds current U.S. military operations in the region in response to recent attacks
- Enhances the production and development of artillery and critical munitions
Earlier this week, Rep. Mann spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to reaffirm his unwavering support of Israel and to call attention to the Biden Administration’s weak foreign policy. Rep. Mann also voted to advance several pieces of legislation to condemn Iran and their proxies’ terrorism including H. Res. 1143, the Condemning Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel, H.R. 6323, the Iran Counterterrorism Act, H.R. 6046, the Standing Against Houthi Aggression Act, and H. Res. 883, a resolution expressing the House of Representatives’ condemnation of the antisemitic “river to the sea” slogan.
In October 2023, Rep. Mann voted yes on legislation stating that America stands with Israel as it defends itself in the war launched by Hamas and supported the stand-alone Israeli Security Supplemental Appropriations Act to bolster Israel’s defensive capabilities. In December, Rep. Mann voted to freeze the $6 billion in Iranian assets that the Biden Administration reversed in September 2023. Rep. Mann has consistently voted to urge Hamas to immediately release hostages taken during the October 7 attacks, and to reaffirm the state of Israel’s right to exist.
As laid out in his commitment to the Big First, Rep. Mann is committed to ensuring Kansans a nation that is safe. Rep. Mann is a member of the Abraham Accords Caucus, the Israel Allies Caucus, and the Transatlantic Friends of Israel Caucus.
