Agriculture
Agriculture is the heartbeat of the Big First District and America. The Big First ranks number one in congressional districts in wheat, beef, and sorghum production. As a proud fifth-generation Kansan who grew up working thousands of hours on my family’s farm south of Quinter, I am honored to represent farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers on the House Agriculture Committee and in Congress.
The distance from farm to fork has never been wider, and there are fewer and fewer legislators that have experience on the farm. I proudly serve on the House Agriculture Committee as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry, and on the Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets, and Rural Development, and the Subcommittee on Nutrition, Foreign Agriculture, and Horticulture. As the Congressman for the Big First, I am hyper-focused on crop insurance, oversight, trade, and trade promotion when reauthorizing the next Farm Bill. We need strong agricultural policy that addresses the challenges and changes agricultural producers are currently facing. American farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers deserve it, America’s food and national security depend on it, and Congress must deliver it. I am committed to working with my colleagues on legislation that both puts the needs of the First District at the forefront of policy and honors those who feed, fuel, and clothe the world.
