Passports

Before you visit a foreign country, you should ensure that all your travel concerns are addressed in a timely manner before your departure date.

To look up the status of your passport application, visit the U.S. State Department website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html(link is external).

If your travel dates are closer than 12 weeks away, or if you have been unsuccessful in getting information regarding you application status, please call my Dodge City office at 620-682-7340, or my Manhattan office at 785-370-7277. My staff and I are ready to assist you.

Things to check leading up to out-of-country travel:

  1. Check expiration dates: Before booking your trip, check the expiration date of your passports and family members’ passports.
  2. Apply early: Apply at least 6 months before your planned departure date.
  3. Ensure applications are completed, accurate: Issues with citizenship, ID, fees, or phots could cause delays.
  4. Passport appointments: Due to high demand and backlog in applications, expect to receive your passport in an 18-week timeframe for routine service, 12-week time frame for expedited service. Applicants with life-or-death travel requests are prioritized.
