Mann Blasts Antisemitism, Ill-Informed Mobs on College Campuses

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted in favor of H.R. 6090, the Antisemitism Awareness Act. The legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Mann, expresses that discrimination against Jewish students may violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and requires the U.S. Department of Education adopt the 2016 International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism and its examples as part of its assessment of antisemitic discrimination. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 320-91. Earlier today, Rep. Mann took to the House floor to blast the outbreak of antisemitic protest across the country.
“These are not pro-Palestinian protests, they are ill-informed mobs who believe that Hamas, a terrorist organization, is good for the people of Gaza,” said Rep. Mann. “It could not be further from the truth. For years, we taught Americans and committed ourselves to Never Again. Yet, we are watching the rot of antisemitism stain our American colleges and universities. We must reject the spoil of antisemitism and adopt a clear definition of what antisemitism is to better position university administrators to respond to the terror these so-called protestors are bringing Jewish students. Congress must be clear—America stands with Israel, and we stand with Jewish students across every college campus in America. ”
