WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Tracey Mann was selected to serve as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He will also sit on the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. At the House Veterans’ Affairs first organizational meeting today, the committee rules were adopted, and subcommittee assignments were announced. The House Veterans' Affairs Committee also marked up the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2021, S. Con. Res. 5. “I have always supported the men and women who wear the uniform,” said Rep. Mann. “This support does not stop when our brave men and women transition into civilian life. The Veterans’ Affairs Committee, or as I call it, the Heroes Committee advocates for the heroes who served our country. They deserve quality treatment from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA). I am ready to begin my work as Ranking Member on the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Our veterans need to know Congress is working to help them and ensuring the resources given to the VA are used effectively.” Congress has always acted with bipartisanship to prioritize resources for the VA and its support of veterans and their families. Committee Republicans are committed to the transparency and strong oversight that will ensure the VA is a good steward of taxpayer dollars. “Rep. Mann knows the challenges transitioning servicemembers face from his time serving as the 50th Lt. Governor of Kansas. He also knows how to navigate government bureaucracy. I am grateful that he has agreed to serve as the lead Republican on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. I know he will hold VA accountable for providing veterans with first-class services they have earned and being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars,” said Ranking Member Bost.
