Rep. Tracey Mann's Statement on Voting Against the Short-Term Continuing Resolution
Washington, D.C. - Rep. Tracey Mann (KS-01) released the following statement regarding the Continuing Resolution vote last night in the U.S. House of Representatives: "Yesterday, House Democrats pushed through yet another irresponsible continuing resolution. This is not the first, not the second, but the third time that Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have resorted to stop-gap funding bills since September 2021. Rather than undergoing a normal process in which the Appropriations Committees develop a budget and send it to the full House and Senate for a vote, Washington Democrats have focused all efforts on pursuing reckless “Build Back Better” spending measures that will deepen our already $30 trillion national debt and fuel the inflation fire. We are nearly halfway through the fiscal year, yet we still do not have a full-year budget. This is no way for a sovereign nation to govern. I voted against the continuing resolution - for the third time - because it kicks the can down the road instead of kicking off a true debate on our nation’s budget. This haphazard budgeting needs to stop. Congress must work to produce an FY 2022 budget that provides certainty for the American people, includes longstanding provisions such as the Hyde Amendment, protects agriculture programs, and puts America on a path towards fiscal sustainability."
