Rep. Tracey Mann's Statement on Delayed COVID-19 Payments from USDA
Rep. Tracey Mann released the following statement regarding the USDA's delay in distributing Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP) payments to agriculture producers:
"The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) provided much needed financial support to agricultural producers during the supply chain disruption and market turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, CFAP 2 has proved to be an empty promise for many would-be recipients of this aid, as farmers and ranchers in the Big First and all over the country are still waiting for their payments.
Congress approved the CFAP 2 financial assistance for farmers and ranchers, and USDA approved more than two thousand applicants for expanded limits under CFAP 2. To date, USDA has paid only about 60 of those producers. Instead of quickly distributing the payments, USDA is moving extremely slow, even refusing to provide a timeline to producers who inquire about the status of their payments.
Today, I sent a letter urging USDA to deliver these payments into the deserving hands of farmers and ranchers immediately."
