Rep. Tracey Mann Signs Letter to Armed Services Committees Leadership Regarding NDAA Red Flag Provisions

September 30, 2021

Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (R-KS) sent a letter alongside U.S. Representative Stephanie Bice (R-OK), U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), and 160 of their colleagues, to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees (HASC, SASC) leadership, urging them to remove the "red flag" provisions from the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

"Including red flag provisions was a means for House Democrats to force House Republicans to vote against other critical versions of the package like funding for our military and counter-terrorism measures," said Rep. Mann. "I voted for the initial version of the National Defense Authorization Act only after strong assurances that all red flag provisions would be removed from the final version."

The initial NDAA version which passed the U.S. House of Representatives on September 2, 2021, included funding for our military, reversed President Biden's cuts to national security, and exempted military servicemembers from mandatory COVID-19 vaccines without a dishonorable discharge.

"I am an adamant supporter of the Second Amendment and I'm committed to fighting against any efforts that weaken or diminish the rights of law-abiding Americans to own, carry, and use firearms," said Rep Mann. "Should the final NDAA return to the House of Representatives with red flag provisions, I will vote no."

The NDAA passed the House of Representatives 316-113 and has been referred to the Senate Armed Services Committee for further review.
