Rep. Tracey Mann responds to President Biden's tentative deal with U.S. Rail Road

September 15, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) released the following statement in response to the tentative deal that was reached early this morning between President Biden and the U.S. Railroad.

“The United States economy should never be used as a bargaining chip,” said Rep. Mann. “American producers need rail infrastructure for essential products like fertilizer and grain, which they use to keep our country fed. That critical system should never be under a shutdown threat. This situation escalated way out of control and set a horrible precedent for future contract negotiations. The American people never deserve to have any of their goods or services held hostage under any circumstances. America was on the brink of a disaster because of a failure of leadership from the Biden Administration. Our country is off the rails, and we need new leadership in D.C. to get back on track before it’s too late.”

Representative Mann is the member of Congress for the First Congressional District of Kansas. The Big First District is third in the nation for agricultural production and is number one in wheat, beef, and sorghum production. Representative Mann proudly serves on the House Agriculture Committee and Subcommittees on Livestock and Foreign Agriculture, and General Farm Commodities and Risk Management.
