Rep. Mann Votes to Support U.S. Troops, Strengthen National Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. This annual legislation boosts the quality of life for American service members and families, restores the U.S. Department of Defense’s focus to protecting America rather than culture wars, and supports our national security interests. The bill passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 281-140. Rep. Mann released the following statement after the vote.
“The price of freedom is not free, and we should support the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect those freedoms,” said. Rep. Mann. “This NDAA makes much-needed investments to improve the lives of our service members at Fort Riley and around the globe, deploys resources to secure our southern border, deters Communist China, removes inefficiency and far-left policies at the Department of Defense, and equips our military to defend the United States of America. I am proud to stand with our military. God bless our troops.”
This version of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025:
- Authorizes a 4.5% pay raise for service members and a 14.5% increase for junior enlisted service members
- Bans taxpayer-funded gender affirming medical treatment for children
- Allows the National Guard to deploy to the southern border to end the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants
- Supports joint U.S.-Israel cooperative missile defense programs
- Saves taxpayers $31 billion by cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons systems, and unnecessary waste
- Combats foreign adversaries like China, Iran, Russia, and terrorist organizations
This version of the NDAA will now go to the U.S. Senate for further review before being sent to the President to be signed into law.
