Rep. Mann Votes for Rural Infrastructure Investment, Five-Year Reauthorization of Highway Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance the BUILD America 250 Act out of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee by a vote of 62 to 2. The bipartisan bill reauthorizes and invests in America's most critical Surface Transportation programs and infrastructure projects for the next five years.
“Strong roads, bridges, rail, and freight infrastructure are essential to keeping people and goods moving safely and efficiently across our country,” said Rep. Mann. “The BUILD America 250 Act focuses on the basics by investing in the core infrastructure Americans rely on every day, cutting red tape so projects can be completed faster, giving states the flexibility to meet their unique transportation needs, and strengthening the Highway Trust Fund. The Big First has more bridges than any congressional district in the country, so I am proud that this bill makes the largest investment in American bridges in our nation’s history while supporting the industries that power our state. Seventy years after President Eisenhower signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act into law, this legislation honors his legacy by keeping America moving.”
The Build America 250 Act:
- Cuts red tape and speeds up permitting timelines to deliver projects more quickly and reliably
- Strengthens the Highway Trust Fund by ensuring all users, including EVs, pay their fair share
- Provides the largest investment ever in American bridges
- Ensures funding flexibility for states, recognizing they know best how to address their transportation needs
- Improves highway safety by supporting law enforcement and consolidating federal safety programs for easier administration
Rep. Mann spoke in favor of the legislation on the House floor, asking his colleagues to honor President Eisenhower's legacy and vote for this investment in America's surface infrastructure.
