Rep. Mann Votes to End Longest Shutdown in U.S. History

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance H.R. 5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026, and reopen the federal government. H.R. 5371 passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 222-209. Rep. Mann released a statement after the vote.
“For 43 days, Washington Democrats have kept the federal government closed as they threw a temper tantrum and demanded that Congress adopt radical policy proposals like taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants,” said Rep. Mann. “Everyday Americans paid the price for Democrats’ political theatre with delayed government benefits, missed paychecks, and chaos across our nation’s airports. I proudly voted to bring this shutdown to an end once and for all. The hardworking men and women who are the backbone of our country should not have their lives upended in exchange for Democrats’ pandering to their leftist base. I’m hopeful Congress can put Americans first and get back to passing the agenda that House Republicans were elected to deliver on."
On September 19, 2025, Rep. Mann supported the House continuing resolution to fund the federal government. Shortly after the federal government closed, Rep. Mann published an op-ed underscoring the toll the shutdown put on American families.
The Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act will now go to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
