Rep. Mann Stands for American Small Businesses, Holds Biden Administration Accountable

July 19, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) released the following statement in response to yesterday's House Small Business Committee's markup to review legislation that holds the Biden Administration accountable for COVID-19 loan fraud and cuts burdensome regulations forced on small business owners.

"It's simple: when government grows, liberty shrinks,” said Rep. Mann. “The Biden Administration continues to impose burdensome and overreaching regulations on American small business owners. On top of that, much of the relief that was developed with small business owners in mind ended up in the hands of fraudsters due to President Biden’s lack of oversight. Instead of recovering the more than $200 billion of wasted taxpayer money, President Biden continues to crush small businesses with runaway regulations. This is unacceptable, and the Biden Administration must be held accountable for its actions, which continue to impact the livelihoods of American small business owners across the Big First."

Included in the markup was H.R. 3995, the Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act, which Rep. Mann supported. The legislation ensures that the Biden Administration’s rulemaking costs nothing to small business owners and that the Biden Administration reports on any regulations issued by other federal agencies that have an impact on small businesses. The legislation passed favorably and will be sent to the House Floor for further consideration.

Rep. Mann represents the First Congressional District of Kansas. The Big First District is home to more than 200,000 small businesses, and more than 80% of employees in the district are employed by small businesses.
