Rep. Mann Responds to President Biden’s failed State of the Union Address

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address.
“Throughout his first two years in office, President Biden has shown that he is out of touch with the needs and priorities of people in the Big First, and out of touch with reality when it comes to spending. Last night only confirmed that.
President Biden failed to mention things that concern rural America like inflation and input prices. He failed to discuss the importance of agriculture and signing a strong Farm Bill into law that supports American farmers, ranchers, and producers. He isn’t bothered by the problems that his decisions on “Waters of the U.S.” and the lesser prairie-chicken are causing for landowners and the energy sector. He also showed that he has no real plan to end the crisis at our southern border, decrease the national debt, address the workforce shortage, restore American energy independence, or help small businesses recover from COVID-era policies.
Instead, President Biden talked about ‘finishing the job’ by wasting even more taxpayer dollars to fund his big government wish list, even though he just failed to deliver his fiscal year 2024 budget to Congress by the legally required deadline for the second year in a row. He is reportedly planning to release his budget in March instead, which will surely feature more of the same bad policies and government waste that created America’s current debt and inflation crises in the first place. Last night, President Biden spoke about ‘the facts’ and ‘the numbers’ but failed to mention that, since he took office, he and House Democrats have increased our 10-year spending trajectory by $10 trillion, which ignited the highest spike in consumer prices in forty years. He also failed to mention that our country is $31.4 trillion in debt and that when Republicans were in the Majority for eight years, discretionary spending went down by $10 billion. Those are the facts and the numbers.
My Republican colleagues and I stand committed to balancing the budget, conducting rigorous oversight, standing up for the right to life, defending the Second Amendment, securing the border, reining in wasteful government spending, unleashing energy dominance, and passing legislation that fixes problems. Voters gave Republicans control of the House for a reason – to get America back on track, which is exactly what we’re doing, regardless of how out of touch President Biden is.”
