Rep. Mann repeatedly defends right to life

Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann voted to defend the right to life, fight dehumanizing policies that devalue life’s sanctity, and condemn violence against American citizens who stand up for life. Rep. Mann cosponsors H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, and H. Con. Res. 3, Expressing the sense of Congress condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches, both of which passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“This is crystal clear,” said Rep. Mann. “If a child is born alive following an abortion or an attempted abortion, that newborn child deserves the same standard of medical care that any newborn deserves. Also, there is no place in America for mob violence against people or organizations that defend the right to life. It is horrifying that we need to address issues like these in a free country, but Washington Democrats have advocated for unthinkable, gruesome policies that constitute an all-out attack on human life. I am proud to be a pro-life member of Congress, and I will always support policies that protect life.”
While Washington Democrats continue to advocate for allowing abortions on demand up until the moment of birth, H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, is a commonsense measure that protects the most basic right to life for infants who survive an abortion. The bill:
- Requires that health care practitioners provide infants who survive an attempted abortion the same standard of medical care as any other newborn.
- Allows for criminal sanctions against anyone who intentionally performs or attempts to perform an overt act that kills a child born alive.
- Protects the mother from prosecution and empowers her to seek civil remedies against an abortion provider who refuses to administer care to an infant born alive.
Pro-life pregnancy centers, churches, and groups play a vital role in helping support women and families throughout all stages of pregnancy. This resolution:
- Condemns violent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches.
- Condemns the radical, anti-life advocates who have caused destruction to and threatened over 100 pro-life organizations and groups since the leak.
- Urges the Biden Administration to uphold public safety and protect the rights of these facilities, groups, and churches.
