Rep. Mann Releases Statement on EPA lifting E15 summer restriction

April 13, 2022

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) released the following statement regarding yesterday's announcement that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is lifting summer sales of higher-ethanol gasoline blend under emergency authority:

“Prices at the pump are out of control, and using a home-grown resource like ethanol is a workable solution that Americans deserve,” said Rep Mann. “While it’s months overdue, I’m glad to see that the President has finally signed a waiver for E15 use this summer. Since ethanol is an available, affordable, and renewable way to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, I believe that we should be using E15 year-round.”

In addition to boosting U.S. biofuels resources, the EPA has also announced its efforts to expand the use of canola oil, providing new pathways for canola oil to participate in the Renewable Fuel Standard program.

In the last year, Representative Mann, alongside his colleagues, sent two letters to EPA Administrator Michael Regan, urging him to take immediate action to combat increasing biofuels prices. He also cosponsors H.R.4410, the Year Round Fuel Act. Representative Mann believes America should have an “all of the above” energy strategy that prioritizes American energy independence, embraces fossil fuels and renewable energy, and doesn’t allow Washington to pick winners and losers.
