Rep. Mann Opposes Bloated Spending Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted no on H. Res. 1061, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, which would exceed bipartisan spending caps that were signed into law less than a year ago under the Fiscal Responsibility Act and bypass regular order on passing 12 individual appropriation bills. "America is $34 trillion in debt, and every corner of America is feeling the burden of out-of-control spending," said Rep. Mann. "Nearly one year ago, Congress voted to cap federal spending and rein in the government's spending addiction. Yet today's minibus legislation ignores those caps and continues the recklessness that got us here in the first place. We must reduce and reprioritize federal spending through the normal budgetary process and pass 12 fiscally responsible appropriation bills. I have fought to do that and will keep working to get America back on track." H. Res. 1061, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 339-85. It is the first of two parts of an estimated $1.66 trillion spending bill, completing funding for fiscal year 2024. It will now be sent to the U.S. Senate for further consideration. Congress will likely vote on part two of the bill before March 22, when government funding for the remaining agencies expires. Click here to view Rep. Mann’s Commitment to the Big First. ### |
