Rep. Mann demands accountability in Washington, D.C., introduces the MANN Acts

Washington, D.C. - On Monday, as his first act after being sworn into the 118th Congress, Representative Tracey Mann (R-KS) reintroduced H.R.s 179-184, the More Accountability is Necessary Now (MANN) Acts. The MANN Acts include six pieces of legislation that require the executive branch to notify the American public and Congress with its intent to issue any new, or revoke any existing, executive orders in six key areas: agriculture, energy, natural resources, the right to life, the Second Amendment, and immigration. They also require the executive branch to substantiate and explain the Constitutional legitimacy of each executive order and report back to Congress on its impact on America.
“Single-party rule in Washington, D.C. is over,” said Rep Mann. “The American people gave Republicans control of the House for a reason – they are tired of seeing their tax dollars wasted, their rights violated, and the laws of our land dictated by executive orders from the White House. Governing by executive order is a betrayal of the legislative process that our founding fathers instituted - that’s why my first act in the 118th Congress is to reintroduce the MANN Acts. Congress was created to legislate and to prevent the executive branch from abusing its power. I refuse to be a caretaker in the slow demise of our great nation – I serve in Congress to work hard and fight to make America stronger. In the 118th Congress, Republicans are committed to protecting Americans from federal government overreach, and the MANN Acts are a great place to start.”
Earlier today Rep. Mann released his Commitment to the Big First, which includes a commitment to conducting rigorous oversight, reining in the White House’s abuse of power, holding Washington accountable, and restoring the people’s voice.
