Rep. Mann Calls for Fiscal Sanity

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, amidst a looming fiscal deadline, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) issued the following statement, calling for a return to fiscal sanity and regular order in Congress.
"We must restore fiscal sanity," said Rep. Mann. "Americans want their tax dollars to be used wisely. Giving President Biden and Congressional Democrats endless, no-limit credit cards is no way to govern in a democracy. Instead, we must prioritize federal spending based on what Americans really want. Let's secure the southern border. Let's decrease our country's dependence on Communist China. Let's commit to reining in government spending.
It’s hard for me to imagine how anyone could love the open border so much, or love losing to China so much, or love $200 billion of unaccounted-for COVID relief dollars so much, that they’d be willing to shut down the federal government to keep the situation as-is. If Washington Democrats spent as much energy on responsibly funding the government as they do on the partisan wish lists, we could have solved this problem long ago.”
With the overall national debt at $33 trillion, the annual federal budget deficit is expected to balloon to about $2 trillion for FY2023, roughly double what it was in FY2022. In FY2023, the federal government borrowed about $1 out of every $5 it spent.
“America can no longer afford President Biden’s out-of-control spending,” said Rep. Mann. “It is time to get our fiscal house back in order.”
