Rep. Mann Blasts Biden Border Crisis, Votes to Impeach Mayorkas

February 14, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to impeach U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for willfully refusing to comply with America's immigration laws and breaching public trust.

"Secretary Mayorkas has ignored America’s immigration laws,” said Rep. Mann. "Since President Biden took office, and under Secretary Mayorkas’ watch, there have been more than 8.3 million illegal border crossings. The reality is that the President and Secretary of Homeland Security do not care about illegal immigration, fentanyl, human trafficking, and the uncontrollable crime flooding across the southern border. Secretary Mayorkas has created a national security and humanitarian crisis beyond measure. Secretary Mayorkas must be held accountable. Enough is enough.”

These articles of impeachment are the product of a thorough and fair investigation into the historic southern border crisis, and the results prove that Secretary Mayorkas' failed leadership is a direct cause. Yesterday, Congress exercised its constitutional duty to impeach Secretary Mayorkas and protect America’s national security.

H. Res. 863, Impeaching Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, for high crimes and misdemeanorspassed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 214-213.
