Rep. Mann blasts Biden Administration's WOTUS rule
Washington, D.C. -This week, U. S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) joined 196 of his colleagues in blasting the Biden Administration for its premature and reckless “waters of the United States” (WOTUS) final rule. The group sent a letter demanding that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rescind the rule and postpone any action on WOTUS to allow the U.S. Supreme Court to issue an opinion on Sackett v EPA. In that pending case, the Supreme Court will make a final determination on which land and navigable waters fall within EPA’s regulatory jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act.
“The Biden Administration has created regulatory chaos for producers, who are working hard to keep us all fed, fueled, and clothed,” said Rep. Mann. “Farmers are the original conservationists, and they deserve the support of the federal government, not red tape and burdensome overregulation. They certainly don’t need Washington Democrats to tell them how to manage their own resources. The Biden Administration’s newest WOTUS rule removes longstanding bipartisan exemptions for common water features like ponds or streams found on farms and ranches. This rule should be revoked until the Supreme Court rules on Sackett V. EPA, which will determine whether the EPA has the authority to enforce this rule in the first place. American producers deserve better than this. President Biden’s WOTUS rule is a glaring example of the harm that government overreach can cause.”
