The Farm Bill expires in fewer than 50 days, and Congress has yet to authorize a new one. Food security is national security, and American farmers, ranchers, agricultural producers, and consumers cannot afford for Congress to take the Farm Bill hostage to the political limbo of Washington, D.C.

Our producers deserve certainty as the current Farm Bill expires September 30. I supported the House Agriculture Committee’s fiscally conservative Farm Bill that not only serves producers but stewards tax dollars well.
I spoke with Andy Hooser of KQAM in Wichita about the Biden Administration's out-of-control spending, the crisis at our southern border, and the Farm Bill.
On April 19, President Biden received a bipartisan joint resolution of disapproval on his administration’s flawed and burdensome “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) rule. Instead of listening to agricultural producers, small business owners, and Congress, he vetoed it. That is inexplicable. Congress, not the executive branch, was created to legislate, and while President Biden would like to federally regulate every small stream, ditch, and puddle from sea to shining sea, American producers have been the careful stewards of their own resources for centuries.
A new international report recently estimated that 258 million people worldwide are suffering from crisis-level hunger, with seven countries experiencing famine-like conditions.
